Linking to QuickBooks Desktop with Flight

Just like dancing the flamenco, there are some important steps involved in linking your QuickBooks Desktop account to Flight. And just like the flamenco, taking a few minutes to get the steps right can make you successful.

Before you even begin, let's make sure the following is true:

You have access to your QuickBooks Desktop account

You are using Windows 7 or higher

You are using Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge or Internet Explorer

Now do this:

On your desktop computer, open your QuickBooks for Windows company file as an Admin User.

Sign in to your Flight account at getflight.com

Click Add Business on any tab

Click Link

Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer Users (Google Chrome instructions are below)

After selecting Link you will see the following notification dialog; click Open to continue.

Click Run when the warning dialog appears:

Now you can link. If QuickBooks for Windows is not running, you will see the following dialog:

If you see the above dialog, open QuickBooks for Windows and open the company file as an Admin User. Press the Retry button to start linking.

Depending on the size of your file, linking may take several minutes. During linking, progress occurs in multiple stages, so it is possible for the progress indicator to pause before continuing.

After linking completes, a new set of cards appears in your activity feed. You're ready to take off!

Google Chrome Users

Google Chrome requires a Google Chrome extension to be installed, which creates an additional one-time step to enable linking to QuickBooks for Windows files. Once this set-up is complete, you can link to your financials by simply clicking the Link button at any time.

Navigate to your business and click Link.
